Holiday in Handcuffs

On Day 3 of our 25 Days of Christmas movie extravaganza we move to your cheesy, made for TV Christmas movies.  From what I understand the Hallmark Channel has been playing nothing but these kinds of movies since Halloween or something ridiculous like that. I haven’t seen any of them, and probably won’t. However, I do usually watch the original movies that air on ABC Family, and trust me these don’t have to be Christmas related. My college roommate Emma could tell you stories.

Somehow I managed to marry a guy who will sit down and watch this ridiculousness with me, so I still indulge myself with whatever they have going on every year. Most of these movies are in no way good, but they hit the spot for light-hearted, cheesy romantic comedies. Sometimes they are just what you’re looking for.

As with any genre there is a spectrum of how good they are. I mean the bar for these starts pretty low, but some are definitely better than others and they’ll show up in this list. One from a few years ago that I quite enjoyed was called Holiday in Handcuffs starring Melissa Joan Hart and Mario Lopez. See now you’re intrigued already. I can tell. She basically kidnaps some guy and forces him to play her boyfriend for the holidays. Spoiler alert: despite the inauspicious beginnings of their relationship they fall in love. It’s the perfect example of one of these movies.

Sorry for that the clip is essentially an ad to try and get you to buy the DVD, but it gives you a nice little trailer for the movie.
