I could really write a blog post for why I love every single Florence and the Machine song because I do and cannot wait to see them in concert in September. However, the reason I love Kiss with a Fist by Florence and the Machine is ultimately because it’s such a contrast to their other music. Most of their music consists of these sweepingly epic, dramatic songs while Kiss with a Fist seems to be more of a straight up punk rock song. On the occasions that I choose to listen to specifically just Florence and the Machine this song always provides me a little jolt in the middle of all the more theatrical music surrounding it, particularly when I’m listening to the Lungs album straight through and this song follows the hugely climactic feeling Howl. If I was listening to this song as a single and not part of the entire Florence oeuvre I probably wouldn’t like it nearly as much, but as part of the whole it’s excellent.
